Towards productive employment for all persons.
About the Agenda
Every job-seeker is a professional human resource that presents an opportunity for innovation and economic development. However, there is a disconnect between the skill sets of job-seekers and the high expectations of employers. It is this mismatch between what the learning process teaches, and what industry requires, which leads to an increasing vulnerable employment rate which is expected to reach 49% in the Asia-Pacific region.
Thus, there is an urgent need to redesign education experiences to equip graduates and job-seekers with soft and transferable skills to give them the job security they require in an uncertain, digital future. By developing the skills required by industry, and by encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, we can nurture a world filled with job creators rather than job seekers.
This Collaborative Transformation agenda will thus focus on the following areas:
- Developing an Aligned, Integrated Employment and Skills System
- Encouraging Entrepreneurship and Evolving with Disruptive Technologies
- Systematic Change in Labour Markets and Education Practices
- Employer- University- Student Partnership
